I did something I haven’t done in a long while this weekend, some illustration type things on my computer. It has been a while but it was still fun.
The first thing I did, whilst watching Skyfall on DVD was a C30. I tried to keep everything quite clean. It is still a work in progress as you can see.
The next thing I did was take three side on views of cars and then to draw them using only a single line. It worked and here they are. An A3 Sportback, a Leon and a Golf.

Something else that I have been working on whilst waiting for my parts to be painted is the diagrams to be included in the accompanying booklet that will go with the box. I have started to create them. I am hoping that the style of these will work well with the design of the product and the overall branding of the project.
Further working on the A5 “Camera Car” has led me to this point. I have included the rig that the cameras are located on and I am toying with the idea of keeping the cameras as simple as possible. The overall look I am aiming for for this mini project is for it to possibly show what a real car would look like if it had all the cameras attached that are found in computer games.
I have noticed that the quality isn’t too great just now but I can assure you that the original one is by far and a way, so much better.
The A5 I was working on in the last post has taken a slight detour in the direction that I was taking it in. It is still going to eventually be the same as the blueprint one but I thought I would just render it up and see what it would look like and it has turned out quite well…
If you remember a few months back, I was working on a blueprint style image using a Mclaren MK.II showing the camera locations usually found in racing games. In the studio, when not having any motivation to work and not knowing what we are meant to be doing (pretty much everyone feels like this), I have been updating the idea but using a more modern car, an Audi A5. It is still a work in progress but it should (hopefully) turn out quite well…
Another blast from the past (I guess there was no pun intended there). I did these a good few years ago, about the time when they did that Reliant Robin Space Shuttle piece on Top Gear. It was done so long ago I was still using GIMP (Gnu Image Manipulation Program) and not photoshop. The basic robin rocket shape was from an image on the Top Gear website and I added the background, the SRB’s and the other rockety bits. I am sure if I tried to do this again, I would come up with a better outcome, but it isn’t bad the way it is just now…
Another update to what I am doing with the Mclaren Blueprint. This time I am toying with the idea of making it like a technical drawing. I am still looking at doing the camera one which shows where cameras are usually located in racing games but I seem to have hit a dead end with that one at the moment.
This one was done very quickly using the raw ‘blueprint’ outline I got from the internet, if I took this one forward, I would go round the car in Illustrator as per my others:
Small update on the Mclaren, it is still a work in progress, and the idea is coming along nicely albeit a bit clunky…
Meanwhile the Mclaren I posted up last time is now my iMac desktop wallpaper.
A quick something that I have done, in preparation for another idea I am working on and have had for a while. Coincidentally, this has become another contender to be put on canvas…
